The Music Room

During the 19th century, music played an important role in French chateau culture. Châteaux served as cultural centres where the aristocracy would meet for various social events and entertainment. Music played a crucial role in these gatherings, reflecting the refined tastes and sophisticated lifestyles of the elite.

The grand piano in the Music room belonged to Franz Liszt. Liszt and his close friend Frédéric Chopin often stayed with the author George Sand at her country home in Nohant, a stone’s throw away from Vouzeron, where many of their etudes were composed.
